The Gamma Knife Center

The facility houses the gamma knife vault and two patient waiting rooms. The gamma knife is a dedicated neuro-radiosurgery tool that emits radiation from 201 sources of Cobalt 60. It is the focus of these 201 beams of radiation that converge at a central point (isocenter) that provides the precision that makes this machine very effective. We fix the patient's head in a frame, thereby immobilizing the skull, which adds to the accuracy of the technology (fixed isocenter + fixed skull = .3mm accuracy).

Because of this level of accuracy, we effectively treat even the most difficult cases with very hard-to-access targets. We believe that regardless of the location of the target or tumor, delivering the right dose of radiation while sparing healthy brain tissue from unwanted radiation is the best possible treatment - and the kind of accuracy we would want our loved ones to receive.

Since we opened, Gamma Knife of Spokane has treated over 1000 patients and are well-equipped to meet the special needs of you or your loved one.
